On Sunday, October 13th, 2019, the Evans Chamber of Commerce held their first Evans Under 40 luncheon to celebrate young leaders within our community.
In months prior, the Chamber asked for the public to nominate local individuals who had a positive impact on our community and who they felt displayed great leadership qualities.
A private board of individuals reviewed the slough of nominations and narrowed it down to three individuals.
On September 27, 2019, the Evans Chamber of Commerce announced their three honorees: Krista Lipczynkski of Dance Connection, Jon Singleton of Combat Plumbing, LLC and Jeffrey Connors of Lake Shore Central School District.
The luncheon was hosted at Suncliff on the Lake, located in Derby, NY. The event tickets sold out! (Pretty impressive for this being the first year). The event began with Chamber president, Michele Ford welcoming everyone and explaining the purpose of the event. Emcee, Andrea Wincenciak kept the attendees attention, bringing much light and laughs to the table! An inspirational message was delivered to all by motivational speaker, Steven Procknal. Following the motivational speech, an additional award was presented to Melissa Atzrott and Tracy Manguso for their selfless contributions and leadership to being the new Evans Town Park Playground to our community. The Revitalize Evans 2019 award will be displayed at the Evans Town Hall for all to see!
At this time, the honorees were announced and the audience was provided with a brief description of their accomplishments. This is what they had to say regarding Jon, "Since 2011, Jon has been enlisted in the military. He is a combat veteran and is currently a member of the NYS National Guard. His selfless sacrifices have not only helped those in our immediate community, but also in various countries. He is a mentor for his children, his troops and anyone who has ever worked with or under him. This year, Jon has a dream to start his own business, so he took that leap and today is is the proud owner of Combat Plumbing. He is loyal and operates with the highest integrity. He is a volunteer and supports various non-profit organizations dedicated to animals and Veterans. As a new business owner, he is our in the forefront, supporting other small businesses and making his name known in our community. Most recently, he sponsored a cheerleader and was part of this years Trunk-Or-Treat event. Jon truly understands the importance of rallying around his community for the better of everyone. Keep your eyes open, as I am sure we will be seeing a lot more of Jon and Combat Plumbing."
After Krista, Jon and Jeff received their awards, everyone was given an opportunity to mingle and congratulate the recipients. Photos of the event were taken by Bonnie Militello of Bonnie's Photo Imagery.
